   Home Manager    Responsible To: Home Owner/Owners
 
Purpose:
To manage in a professional manner the day to day running of the home’s administration, clinical, finance, training and care planning. To implement working practices that monitors the health and welfare of the homes clients and staff and their living and working environment. To promote quality care within a warm friendly ambience.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. To ensure current Health and Safety, COSHH and Environmental Health regulations pertaining to the home are implemented.
  2. To ensure all staff are trained in current Health and Safety and Environmental Health regulations which pertain to the home.
  3. To manage the home in a manner which will not bring the clients or home into disrepute.
  4. To delegate responsibility effectively and within legal boundaries.
  5. To attend and contribute to staff meetings when required.
  6. To manage the home within the regulations of the Registration Authority and UK Government and European Legislation.
  7. To maintain confidentiality on all aspects of care and home management.
  8. To have an in-depth operational knowledge of all emergency procedures and ensure these are communicated to all staff and clients through practical training exercises.
  9. To ensure staff have the qualifications and training necessary for the job they perform.
  10. To have a working knowledge of the homes policies and procedures.
  11. To ensure the homes policies and procedures are communicated to all staff through an induction and training and development programme.
  12. To have regular meetings with clients, staff and other associated medical professionals, to ensure good care practice.
  13. To inform the homeowners immediately if a serious difficulty or event occurs.
  14. To investigate all complaints and follow through to their conclusion.
  15. To control and manage the operational finances of the home.
  16. To keep abreast of current developments within the care industry, and attend the relevant courses accordingly.
  17. To maintain proper and accurate records pertaining to the client and home management.

  Senior Care Assistant   Responsible To: Home Manager

Purpose:
To deputise for the “person in charge” in his or her absence.  To support senior members of staff in all aspects of the homes management. To help in the training of care and domestic staff.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. To ensure care staff and domestic staff carry out their duties in a competent and efficient manner.
  2. To have a working knowledge of the homes Health and Safety and Environmental Health regulations.
  3. To have a working knowledge of the homes policies and procedures.
  4. To assist clients with personal care which includes: using the bath, bed bath or shower: foot and nail care: shampooing hair: helping a client shave: combing or brushing hair: mouth care: denture care: helping the client use a bedpan: helping the client use a urinal: helping a client using the toilet or a portable commode: making and changing beds: preparing for bed: getting out of bed, washing and dressing.
  5. Helping the client with physical and mental activity. This could involve talking to them, reading to them, taking them on day trips, writing on their behalf, assisting with their hobbies and recreation activities.
  6. To care for the dying.
  7. Assist with serving meals and other domestic duties you are qualified and assigned to undertake.
  8. Be on standby to answer emergency bells, answer the telephone and door.
  9. Ensuring care notes and any other form of written report that affects your work are read and kept up to date.
  10. Take part in staff meetings and training activities as required.
  11. To give medication and clinical care to clients as authorised and directed, ONLY IF YOU HAVE BEEN TRAINED AND ARE CONFIDENT IN PERFORMING THESE DUTIES. INFORM THE SENIOR CARE ASSISTANT OR HOME MANAGER IF YOU HAVE ANY DIFFICULTIES WITH ANY ASSIGNED DUTY OF THIS NATURE.

  Care Assistant   Responsible To: Senior Care Assistant

Purpose: To care for the clients in a manner, which respects their dignity and privacy and promotes their independence.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. To comply with the homes Health and Safety, COSHH and Environmental Health regulations.
  2. To attend and contribute to staff meetings when required.
  3. To maintain confidentiality on all aspects of care and your work within the home.
  4. To have a working knowledge of the homes policies and procedures in respect to your job.
  5. To assist clients with personal care which includes: using the bath, bed bath or shower: foot and nail care: shampooing hair: helping a client shave: combing or brushing hair: mouth care: denture care: helping the client use a bedpan: helping the client use a urinal: helping a client using the toilet or a portable commode: preparing for bed: getting out of bed, washing and dressing.
  6. Helping the client with physical and mental activity, this could involve talking to them, taking the out for a walk or day trip, reading to them, writing on their behalf, assisting with their hobbies and recreation activities.
  7. Care for the dying.
  8. Assist with serving meals and other domestic duties you are qualified to undertake.
  9. Be on standby to answer emergency bells, greet visitors, answer the telephone and door.
  10. Ensuring care notes and any other form of written report that affects your work are read and kept up to date.
  11. Take part in staff meetings and internal and external  training as required.
  12. To give medication and clinical care to clients as authorised and directed – ONLY IF YOU HAVE BEEN TRAINED AND ARE CONFIDENT IN PERFORMING THESE DUTIES. INFORM YOUR SUPERVISOR IF YOU HAVE ANY DIFFICULTIES WITH ANY ASSIGNED DUTY OF THIS NATURE.

  Domestic Supervisor   Responsible To: Home Manager

Purpose: To take charge of the domestic staff and ensure a high standard of hygienic maintenance throughout the home.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. To have a working knowledge of the homes Health and Safety, COSHH and Environmental Health regulations.
  2. To have a working knowledge of the homes policies and procedures in respect to your job.
  3. To be in control of the cleaning routines and allocate work to the domestic assistants accordingly.
  4. To control the cleaning material budget, and ensure the home has the necessary level of supplies.
  5. To clean sanitary and associated equipment paying particular attention to the control of germs and infestation.
  6. To report any maintenance defects, security problems or fire hazards.
  7. To dispose of waste in accordance with the homes waste disposal policy.
  8. To help train domestic staff in the use of equipment and safe working practices associated with domestic duties.
  9. To attend staff meetings, motivate and stimulate, generate a good working atmosphere.

  Night Care Assistant   Responsible To: Senior Care Assistant

Purpose: To be the appointed “person in charge” in the absence of senior staff. To carry out nighttime care and domestic duties.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. To have a working knowledge of the homes Health and Safety, COSHH and Environmental Health regulations.
  2. To assist clients in preparing for bed, offering reassurance and comfort.
  3. To carry out regular checks on clients throughout the night (where instructed) taking into account the clients privacy.
  4. To carry out regular security and fire protection checks.
  5. To assist clients with getting out of bed, washing and dressing (if necessary).
  6. To have a working knowledge of the homes policies and procedures in respect to your job.
  7. To care for the dying.
  8. To assist clients with personal care which includes: using the bath, bed bath or shower: foot and nail care: shampooing hair: helping a client shave: combing or brushing hair: mouth care: denture care: helping the client use a bedpan: helping the client use a urinal: helping a client using the toilet or a portable commode: making and changing beds:
  9. Helping the client with physical and mental activity, this could involve talking to them, reading to them, writing on their behalf, assisting with their hobbies and recreation activities.

  Laundry Assistant   Responsible To: Domestic Supervisor

Purpose: To ensure a high standard of cleanliness of the clients and homes laundry.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. To have a working knowledge of the homes Health and Safety, COSHH and Environmental Health regulations in respect to your job.
  2. To have a working knowledge of the homes policies and procedures in respect to your job.
  3. To be in control of the collection and distribution of laundry.
  4. To ensure the correct marking of clients clothes.
  5. To ensure the safe use of laundry bags in particular with regard to infectious and soiled linen.
  6. To report any maintenance defects and ensure the laundry room is clean and free of safety hazards.
  7. To dispose of waste in accordance with the homes waste disposal policy.
  8. To attend staff meetings and internal and external training courses as required.
